Commonly used softwares (常用软件一瞥)

System: English Win98. (前提：系统平台是英文Win98)

Chinese platform: Richwin97 Pro + Patch 9808. Its installation will override the imm32.dll, please backup that file and copy it back. (the Richwin for NT is also pretty good) (use Cxterm for Linux) Just to view Chinese, njview from www.njstar.com is pretty good.	中文平台： Richwin 97 Pro + Patch 9808 虽然输入法不如中文之星和UCDOS+UCWIN,但稳定性很好，和其他程序的兼容也不错ĄŁ唯一的毛病就是喜欢改动imm32.dllĄŁ所以我一般先把那个dll做个备份ĄŁ
System Maintenance: Norton Utilities 4.0. Nuts & Bolts 98. Linux doesn't need this stuff.	系统维护： Norton Utilities 4.0 我一般只用其中几个功能，如Speed DiskĄ˘NDDĄ˘Windoctor等等ĄŁ它有个Registry的编辑器也做得不错ĄŁ Nuts & Bolts 98 一套小工具软件的组合ĄŁ实用性上丝毫不比NU差ĄŁ而且界面fancy.
Backup: Winrescue98	系统文件备份： Winrescue98 精巧Ą˘实用Ą˘专业ĄŁ我每天都用它ĄŁ:-)
Uninstallation: CleanSweep 4.5 Linux uninstallation is very clean, doesn't need it.	反安装： CleanSweep 4.5 我最喜欢的软件之一ĄŁ它无微不至地关注软件安装的每一个细节，让你的硬盘保持干干净净ĄŁ如果我彻底重装硬盘，步骤是这样的：先装win98, 然后把桌面上微软的玩艺能放进垃圾箱的全部放进去ĄŁ然后装Cleansweep, 然后再装其他各种软件ĄŁ这样我以后要卸载什么软件的话，清清楚楚ĄŁ
File Management: Windows Commander 4.01 Linux: RedHat 6.0 has its own, not as powerful.	文件管理： Windows Commander 4.01 别看界面不是很fancy, 但绝对是属于大智若愚的那类ĄŁ:-) 当你熟悉了各种命令的组合键后，你就知道文件管理是可以变得多么轻松愉快而且富有效率了ĄŁ我绝对不骗你ĄŁ我现在除了用鼠标进入wincmd外，各种文件管理操作全部用键盘，
Mp3 Player: JetAudio 4.6 (I personally like WinAmp) Linux: emms, a winamp clone, almost the same.	MP3播放： JetAudio 4.6 非常喜欢它的界面，和我的音响真的很象ĄŁ它的歌单编辑和点取功能也是我很喜欢的ĄŁ
Picture Browsing: ACDSee 32 V2.4	图像浏览： ACDSEE 32 V2.4 启动快，功能全，画质好ĄŁ还需要别的优点么？
Dictionary:	词典：地球村 V2.0 我不需要什么专业词库，只是看英文网页时偶尔查几个英文单词ĄŁ 地球村的精巧是我非常中意的ĄŁ一个词---cute. :-)
Text Edit: UltraEdit V6.10b (never used, office should be enough)	文本编辑： UltraEdit V6.10b
Make Webpages: Dreamweaver (I personally like Frontpage, Frontpage 98 also come with a personal web server)	网页编辑： Dreamweaver
Ftp client: CuteFtp is cute. WsFtp Pro support synchronizing a local ftp folder and a remote ftp folder, you can also give it a try.	Ftp Server: WarFtpd 1.70, highly managable, turn your computer into a ftp server.
Telnet: Netterm 4.2.9, good for bbs and Chinese support.	Download a whole website: Teleport Pro, for offline browsing, etc. You can let the computer to download when you have something else to do. Save you a lot of time, esp. for low bandwidth network. Also great for downloading all mp3 files from a webpage. Linux: wget, can download a whole website, also support resume.
Download: Getright 3.0, can reconnect automatically numerous time, very helpful for downloading huge files from site in China.	Make mp3: Audiocatalyst 2.0, it has CDDB support, can fetch CD info from the web server. It can make mp3 from your CD in one step.
Graphics Manipulation: Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro. Linux: Gimp, almost as powerful as Photoshop, if not considerring all the Photoshop commercial filters and plug-ins).	Burn CD: Adaptec Easy CD Creator.
File compression: Winzip, WinRAR	Make Image of your system: Drive Image Pro, so that you don't need to reinstall everything when it crashes, you can quickly recover everything. Also very useful when installing multiple machines with the same hardware configuration.
Hard disk partition: Partition Magic 4.0, support Linux.	Printing: FinePrint, print multiple pages on a single sheet of paper.
small tool but useful: PressK: press key once a while, prevent screen from getting dark when you watch your VCD. Download here.
