2002 CALTECH GSC SOCCER RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Each team pay a $40 refundable
deposit. If a team forfeits a regularly scheduled match, a $5 penalty will be
assessed. If a team misses a refereeing assignment, a $20 penalty will be
assessed. If two obligations are missed, the entire deposit may be forfeited and
disciplinary action may ensue. If no obligations are missed, the deposit will be
returned at the end of the season (personal checks will be destroyed). In
addition, there will be a $20 non-refundable fee.
2. All teams must play and officiate the
games as scheduled, no exceptions. Teams failing to show-up (without contacting
office and all parties involved) will be fined from their deposit funds.
3. A third team will provide three
officials for the game. If some of the 3 referees will not show-up and both
captains agree, the game can be officiated by 1 or 2 referees. Teams can provide
club lines person. Captains must choose players who know the rules to officiate.
4. Both captains should initial the
final score on the score-sheet. The referee of the game is responsible to note
any major misconduct (e.g. yellow or red cards) and the reason for issuing the
card. Tackle in B-league is not permitted. This office will follow-up on these
violations as and if required.
5. Red carded players from previous week
will be listed on next week score-sheet so the other teams playing against that
team will know who is suspended that week. The automatic disciplinary action is
one game suspension for red card for foul play or second yellow card in the same
game. Two games suspension for red card for violent conduct. More serious
offenses will be decided by higher authorities of GSC and Athletic department.
6. A player, coach, spectator, etc., who
received the red card, has to leave the Caltech facility immediately. He/she can
not participate in any other activities (refereeing, playing for other team) on
that day until the disciplinary action is completed. The canceled games or
holidays do not count into suspension. The referee can suspend the game until
the sent-off person leaves. If that person refuses to leave, the game can be
forfeited in favor of the opposing team regardless of the score of the game.
7. The game will be played in two halves
of 30 minutes each, with a 10 minute intermission. No overtime periods will be
played except in the play-offs. Overtime periods will be two 10 minutes halves,
unless the referee overrules on the basis of daylight considerations. A
continued tie shall result in a penalty kicks in sets of 5. Further tie 1 on 1
kicks.
8. When analyzing current standing and
play-off ranking, a win counts for 3 points, a draw for 1, and a loss for 0
points. Forfeit score is 3:0. How the standing is determined: a; team scoring
most points, b; in case of a tie, a winner of head-to-head competition, c; in
case of further tie, goal differential over entire season, d; in dead-lock tie
for play-off, mini play-off game for deciding the winner will be played.
9. Each team has 11 players on the
field. If both captains agree, the teams may play 8 on each side. A team must
field a minimum of 8 own players within 15 minutes from scheduled time or
forfeit the game.
10. A team with less than 11 players may
borrow a player from other team (rule no. 9 applies) if the other team captain
agrees. When the team completes 11 of own players, the borrowed player must
leave. Players not on the roster may play only one game for the same team. Next
time they must be added to that team roster.
11. If A and B leagues are formed, no
more than three A-league players may be on the field for the same B-league team.
Rules no. 9 and 10 apply.
12. Multiple team players are not
allowed. Rules no. 9 and 10 apply. Using non-Caltech community players may
result in forfeits and/or fines. See the GSC Sports Player Eligibility
Requirements.
13. Substitutions are unlimited and can
occur on a dead ball when the team has possession. Captains must notify the
referee that they want to substitute.
14. FIFA rules apply. The referees have
absolute authority - including send-off or terminating of the game. The games
are final - protests will not be considered.
15. Rain may lead to match or whole day
cancellation at short notice. Teams should contact the Braun Center (ext. 3253)
for playing conditions.
16. Canceled weeks will be replayed
depending on availability of fields. The single postponed games can be replayed
within the following week. If the teams fail to
reschedule, the game will be forfeited
or canceled.
