Focal Plane

A fantastic view of the image slicer focal plane stack. These are the 8 mirrors that slice up the rectangular image formed by the telescope. Each one sends light to a matching second mirror, four of which are seen at right. The image slicer as seen here has not yet been painted. In its final form, most of the surfaces seen here are black.
