Current Research
Dr. Ruan’s research is focused on developing novel optical techniques and translating them into biomedical tools. His primary research interest is to overcome optical scattering, a property of biological tissue that prevents us from looking deep into our body, and to exploit optical scattering for imaging. He has developed a number of approaches that combine light and ultrasound to image deep inside biological tissue. His work has been published in high impact journals including Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Optica.
