FOCUSED BATTERY TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP IV
HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Materials for High Specific Energy Lithium-Ion Cells
and Long-life Lithium-Ion cells

February 24 - 25, 2009
Caltech's Beckman Institute Auditorium
(Building 74 on Caltech Campus Map)
Pasadena, California
Organized by JPL/Caltech

This workshop is intended to cover both fundamental and applied aspects of the cathode, anode and electrolyte materials that would result in a significant enhancement in the specific energies and energy densities of Li-ion cells. Topics specifically addressed will cover i) New cathodes of high voltage and /or high specific capacity, ii) Advanced anodes, based on Li-intercalation or Li-alloys with enhanced specific energy, and iii) New electrolytes formulations compatible with the high voltage cathodes. These sessions are intended to provide an in-sight into the future of Li-ion battery chemistries for civilian, automotive as well as space applications. The workshop will also focus on issues pertaining to the stability of such advanced materials during cycling and/or storage.
