This workshop will involve one hour
of Standard (Foxtrot) and one hour
of Latin (Cha Cha). It will cover techniques to achieve precise control
of your movement and timing and how to style without violating syllabi
(for bronze and silver syllabi). Some silver level figures will be
taught.
Attendees should be familiar with the basics in both Foxtrot and Cha
Cha. Ideally, attendees should also have experience with the open hip
twist and spirals in Cha Cha.
Sherry A. Novak has taught in the Los
Angeles area for over 20 years.
She was trained in England for ballroom dance and is an Examiner for
the
I.S.T.D. She is a world judge, former M.U.S.T Champion, Fred Astaire

The alignments and orientations of
VWaltz will be covered in detail. The technique needed to travel around the floor, rather than around
each other, will also be covered. General frame and posture issues will be
discussed as needed.
Attendees should have previous VWaltz
experience or, at the very least, should be comfortable with the natural turn, reverse turn, and change
step in Waltz. Experience dancing with body contact would be a plus.

first hour and bachata in the second hour.
Originating from the Dominican
Republic, merengue and bachata are 2 very popular latin club dances
marked by simple step patterns and sensual hip sways.
Where have I heard this music before? Elvis Crespo's
Suavemente and Tu Sonrisa (merengue) and Aventura's Obsesion and Cuando
Volveras (bachata) were played all-over the radio! Now you can dance to
them too!

Building upon the basic patterns in West Coast Swing and being able to pick up new patterns involves
being aware of where your partner is now and where your partner will be. Fostering a
comfortable connection is the essence of good partner awareness. This workshop builds upon
the connection concepts introduced in the beginning WCS class series to make the basics flow.
