Introducing CBDC's FREE! Social-Ballroom Workshops

These workshops are geared towards people who might be interested in social-ballroom dancing versus the more intensive competitive-ballroom style taught in the Team Classes. These workshops are a great way to get your feet wet in ballroom!

Foxtrot
 
Taught by CBDC members Megan Nix & Kenneth Kuo.
Introduction to American Foxtrot for beginner to intermediate dancers. We will go over hold, technique, mood/styling, and several figures, such as hesitation turns, box turns, promenade with underarm turns, and possibly twinkles. The workshop will be fairly fast-paced to prepare you in a short time to dance American Foxtrot socially or (particularly if you have prior competition experience) to compete in it at the bronze/silver levels, and we will be available afterward to further break down steps upon request.

Argentine Tango Workshops

Hosted by Argentine-Tango Club, these specialized workshops are geared towards intermediate & more advance level dancers, and will generally focus on advance fundamentals & technique, advance figures, specialized styles & musical interpretation.

Boleos & Ganchos
 
With professional instructors Miguel Cardoso & Claudia Garcia.
Boleos and ganchos are hallmark figures of Argentine Tango! If you've seen a tango performance, you will recognize these elements as the dynamic whipping action of the leg led via a quick change in the direction of momentum.

This 2-hour beginning/intermediate workshop will focus on boleos and ganchos for the beginning and intermediate level student. Not only will boleos and ganchos be explained with proper technique but also when to apply them or not to apply them in a social dance situation as well as how to interpret the music with the figures. As always, we welcome beginners, no partner is required and as those who have taken our classes can attest, we not only stress learning but also having fun! Come and experience the wonderful and sensual world of Argentine Tango!

  Musical Rhythms of
Tango, Milonga & Vals
 
With professional instructors Miguel Cardoso & Claudia Garcia.
A 2-hour beginning/intermediate workshop that will introduce students to the basic fundamental steps of Argentine Tango for social dancing at milongas. A great emphasis will be placed on interpreting and following the music (both for men and women). The different rhythms of tango, milonga and vals will be explored in order for the student to get a better understanding of combining steps and figures to the wonderful music of tango. As always, we welcome beginners, no partner is required and we not only stress learning but also having fun! Come and experience the wonderful and sensual world of Argentine Tango!

  Fundamentals & Basics of
Argentine Tango
 
With professional instructors Miguel Cardoso & Claudia Ramirez.
For intermediate and more advance level dancers.

The 2 hour workshop will pay special attention to posture, body positioning, musicality and transitioning between close and open embrace while maintaining elegance and smoothness. No partner is necessary and as always, our focus is learning but more importantly, having fun! Come and join us for our classes and practice afterwards.
