** Student prices are subsidized by Caltech Tango Club. Please note, this workshop is separate from the Milonga directly afterwards. The Milonga will be a benefit for Cristina Ladas' treatment.
Robin has traveled worldwide sharing his art by teaching and dj-ing. He is one of NYC's most loved tangueros and a popular dj and teacher at tango festivals. Robin is also one of the beloved teachers of our friends at Yale Tango Club!

Piero took his first dance class when he was 9 years old. Then, he attended Brigham Young University where he earned a BA in Dance with a Ballroom Emphasis and was a member of the BYU Ballroom Dance Company. He teaches social dancing as well as dancesport or competitive ballroom/Latin. He invests a lot of energy into his clients and produces great results. Major achievements include:
  • Holiday Dance Classic, Las Vegas, 2006: 1st Place
  • Hillcrest Competition, 2006: 1st Place
  • BYU Dancesport Championships, 2006: 2nd Place
  • American FC Classic, 2006: 3rd Place
  • Provo HSD Festival, 2006: 1st Place

Leaders' Technique

Description:
Are you a Ballroom/Latin/Partner dancer and can't seem to get synchronized with your partner? Do you feel like the follower takes over the lead when you're off doing your thing (or don't remember where your feet go)? The answers are here! This workshop will focus on leaders' technique in partner dancing.
Prerequisites:
For leaders (or followers who want to learn more about leaders' technique) only. Some previous experience with ballroom dancing is needed (e.g. Waltz, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha). No special attire or partner needed, though leather or suede soled shoes make dancing easier.
About the instructor:
Jerry's achievements and credentials include:
  • 1985 and 1987 America's Amateur Dance Champion
  • 1989 Arthur Murray 9 Dance Rising Star Champion, 1990, 1991 and 1995 National and International Dance Finalist
  • A 19 year full-time Professional Teacher of both the American and International Styles of Ballroom and Latin Dancing
  • An accredited member of the NDCA, Terpsichore Dance Association, the U.S.I.S.T.D. and the I.S.T.D. in both the American and International Styles
  • Currently registered with the NDCA as an adjudicator of both International and American style Ballroom dances

Description:
Followers--have you felt like the leaders are leading you using a language that you don't understand? Or worse--there seems to be *no* lead there at all? This workshop will focus on followers' technique in partner dancing.
Prerequisites:
For followers only (or leaders who want to learn more about follwers' technique) only. Some previous experience with ballroom dancing is needed (e.g. Waltz, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha). No special attire or partner needed, though leather or suede soled shoes make dancing easier.

Basic Standard Technique & Latin Styling
 
With SCOTT SCHNEE and GWYNETH CARD

Description:
This workshop will focus on basic international technique and style for Waltz/Quickstep and Rumba/Cha Cha. Beginners are especially encouraged to attend, but dancers of all levels will benefit from working on their basic technique!
Prerequisites:
Some previous experience with Waltz/Quickstep, Rumba/Cha Cha is needed. No special attire or partner needed, although leather or suede soled shoes will make dancing easier.
About the instructors:
Scott and Gwyneth placed 2nd in Championship-level Standard at the 2007 Caltech Dance of the Roses. Previous years' achievements include: Scott was gold smooth and rhythm collegiate champion at the YCN portion of the Ohio Star Ball and Gwyneth won Championship Standard and Pre-Champ Latin at the Caltech Dance of the Roses.
