CBDC offers a host of ballroom and social
dance classes throughout the year with the class series synchronized
with the Caltech term schedule. There are usually 3-4 different
class series taught per quarter (each series is either 4-5 or 8-9
weeks long), with two class series in the summer (8-9 weeks each).
These classes are held on different nights, currently on Mondays,
Thursdays & Sundays, and after every class, the room is open for
general practice & dancing.
Typically the club offers both amateur and professionally-taught
classes each quarter.
Occasionally, we also hold special 1-4 weeks long workshops/seminars
that focus on specific dances. Currently, CBDC is offering a
Social-Ballroom, Nightclub & Tango Workshops. The workshop schedule
varies per series, so please check the
Workshop section for specific details.
All our classes can be used for PE credit. Non-Caltech affiliated
people are welcome to all classes. No dance partner is necessary for
any of the classes. |

About
amateur-Taught
class
|
|
The
amateur-taught series is currently between $3-$4 per class, and is
taught by experienced Ballroom Club members.
It is generally a
beginner-level class. |
|
About
professionally-Taught
class
|
|
The professionally-taught series is usually
initially offered at a beginner level; however, there is less review
of the figures from week to week, so regular attendance is required.
Professionally-taught intermediate level classes are occasionally
offered for certain dances which have a significant level of public
interest.
The cost as of June 2004 is $6 per class for Caltech students and $8
for all others. There is a $1 discount per class if you pay in
advance for the entire series. No refunds are given, but prior
arrangements can be made if you know you will miss a class.
