On
October 14, 2000 the Caltech Alumni Association was briefly transformed
into Gamma Theta, sorority house. No, Ditch Day didn't come early
this year - it was Hollywood at work.
Crews
filming the upcoming MGM release entitled Legally
Blonde transformed three S. Hill Avenue buildings into fictional
sorority houses for a southern California university. In addition
to the Alumni Association's headquarters, neighboring buildings
housing the Einstein
Papers Project and the Industrial
Relations Center were magically - if only fleetingly - welcomed
into the Greek system.
By
late afternoon, filming was done and the Caltech campus returned
to (relative) normalcy. But for one brief, shining moment sororities
came to Caltech.
