From Newton to Crick: England and the History of Science
Don't miss this opportunity to explore England's scientific riches, in the company of fellow Caltech alumni and faculty. It will be a memorable anniversary celebration for the 300th anniversary of the publication of Newton's Optics, the groundbreaking exploration of the nature of light and colors. Travel to Cambridge, England's leading scientific city for centuries; Oxford and Tradescant's Ark; the lovely, Georgian city of Bath; and London. Throughout the journey, Jed Buchwald, Caltech's Doris and Henry Dreyfuss Professor of History, and Diana Kormos Buchwald, Editor of the Einstein papers, will accompany us. During our travels, they will present lectures and lead lively discussions delving into the history of science in England from the 17th through the 20th century. Complimenting these lively conversations are expressly arranged visits to world-famous institutions, such as specially arranged visits to the Whipple Museum of Science and the Cavendish Laboratories in Cambridge.
