Wilderness First Aid Class - FAQ

This sounds awesome but I'm not going to be in town that weekend. Will you be holding another class?
We only received funding for this course. However, it is our hope that we will receive an enthusiastic enough response that we will be able to obtain funding for similar courses in subsequent years.

Is there any way to take the class even if I can't make the May 16-18 dates?
Wilderness Medicine Institute keeps a list of their public courses here:

Also, SOLO runs wilderness first aid classes, though most of them are on the east coast:

I'm a Caltech alum/my wife is a Caltech student/I work at JPL/etc. Can I still submit an application?
You are welcome to apply for the class, but we will be choosing applicants on the basis of benifit to the Caltech community, so your application should make it clear why your training will benifit others at Caltech.

Can I email you my application?
Paper applications are strongly encouraged, but if you are out of the country or have another good reason for wanting to submit the application by email then you may do so, but if it arrives in a format that we can not read, it will be sent to /dev/null. We are not resposible for emailed applications that we discarded because we could not read them. Thus paper applications are preferred!

I did the WFR course a while ago. Is the WFA course valid for recertification?
Check out the WMI page on WFA for the answer to this question:

I took this course at Caltech in 2006. Can I take it again?
You are welcome to apply, however if the course fills first preference will be given to new participants.
