Policies
Course grade decomposition HW: 40%, Midterm: 20%, Final: 40%
Homework Collaboration The students are welcome to discuss the homework problems with each other as well as with the teaching assistants. However, the work being submitted should reflect their own work and understanding of the problem.
Late submission No late homeworks or examinations will be accepted except in the case of genuine documented emergencies. Exemptions from this rule must be approved by the instructor at least one week before the due date.
Office hours The students are encouraged to attend TA office hours and bring up any questions they may have regarding the homework problems or the material covered in the course. Should the students be unable to attend the TA office hours, they are welcome to contact a TA or the instructor directly and set up individual appointments.
Examinations The mid-term as well as the final examinations are take-home, limited time, open notes. The students must complete the examinations entirely by themselves within the allocated time in one sitting. No discussion of problems, subject matter or answers is permitted. The use of class notes, instructors notes, home-work solutions is permitted, but no other material may be consulted. Additional instructions will be provided with the examinations.
