Ultra-High Vaccuum (UHV) niobium cavity annealing system

The niobium cavity is periodically processed to remove chemical contamination and crystaline defects. The cavity is etched in an acid bath and then annealed at 1500 oC for 24 - 48 hours under 10-9 to 10-10 Torr vaccuum. A schematic of the annealing chamber is shown below.
