| Sept 2: |
Organizational meeting |
| This meeting will be for everyone who is
interested in the study group. The plan for this meeting is
to figure out how the study sessions should be organized
based on interests and skill sets. The more people who can
show up to this meeting the better we'll be able to mold the
study meetings to the needs of the group. We would like to
know how we can best setup the study sessions so everyone
can get the most out of the course. |
| Sept 9: |
Study Group prep meeting |
| In this meeting we will finish up and
organizing that needs to be done. We'll also be helping to
get everyone setup so they can follow along with the course
and be able to practice during the study sessions. This will
include setting up Linux accounts. We'll also help everyone
find the software and other information that will be needed
for the course. |
| Sept 12: |
First lecture (in Toronto) |
| Greg will lecture from 2-4 PM EST, and will
post audio later that day or Tuesday. Listen to the
lectures and follow along with the slides located on the
website and if possible do any practice problems Greg has
assigned. All of this should be done before our study
session on Fridays. You will get the most out of the study
sessions if you've done this. |
| Sept 16: |
First study session meeting |
| We will have a first study session as we've
defined it in our previous two meetings. This meeting will
cover the topics in Greg's first lecture:
Introduction
and
The Shell.
|
| Sept 23: |
Second study session meeting |
|
We will cover Basic Scripting and Strings, List, and Files. Please do the exercises before the study group so you can ask questions if you get stuck.
