LIBRARY  (Winter 2003)

To help people educate themselves about environmental issues, and to help them gain access to the outdoors, we have gathered together a small library. The books and magazines are open to all, in the reading alcove of the Caltech Y lounge. Feel free to take home anything you find particularly interesting, but let us know you are borrowing.

    - A perspective on environmental threats, ranging from aesthetic nuisance to genetic damage or impairment of the Earth's whole life-support system.
  • Bicycle Rides: Los Angeles County (Checked Out)
    - 62 bike rides in the LA county (with detailed maps)
  • The Green Pages
    - An everyday shopping guide to environmentally safe products.
  • 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth
    - There are several books like this, with 180 conservation tips in total. Within each book, there are commentary, quotes, and startling statistics.
  • The Rolling Stone Environmental Reader
    - A collection of the best Rolling Stone articles on the environment. Divided into six sections: How We Address Our Environmental Problems, The Dirty Politics of the Environment, Rain Forests, Anatomy of a Disaster, Power of the People, and Working for Tomorrow.
  • The Animal Rights Handbook
    - Facts about animal abuse, and how you can use your day-to-day purchasing power to help animals.
  • Grassroots Organizing Training Manual
    - Want to take action? The Sierra Club shares more than a century of grassroots organizing experience to help people gain the confidence to step out and protect their environment.
