We are pleased to announce that we are going to be visited by Aliona and
Leonid Proskhurov on April 19th. These are experienced and accomplished
dancers and teachers, with a particularly clear and detail-oriented
teaching style. They will give a Latin workshop with emphasis on drills of
general Latin elements such as chasses, spins, rhondes, cuban breaks,
Jive actions, whisks, etc. They will also provide a set of nice
stretching exercises which are rarely adressed in workshops.

About the instructors:
Aliona was a 10-Dance Youth US National Champion
and later an Amateur Latin US National Finalist. Leonid was a 10-Dance
Youth Israel National Champion and later a 10-Dance Amateur US National
Finalist. They both have been coached by some of the world's crown
jewels of Latin. These include Slavik Kryklyvyy, Dmitriy Timokhin,
Vibeka Toft, Allan Tonsberg, Paul Killik, Shirley Ballas, and the
undefeated 9-time world champion Brian Watson.

1. Dancers should show up at 3:45pm to register.

Foxtrot. It will cover some bronze, silver, and gold syllabus figures.

Scottish Champion: Standard and ten dance champion.
Winner or runner up in every major championship in the U.S.
Pro Rep for the USA at the World Championships.
Judge at USA Nationals as well as many comps across the U.S.
One of 4 dancers mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records for dance achievements.

Spinning - How to Make Your Partner Smile!
- This is your chance to learn all the things there isn't time for in a
normal lesson, and move your dancing up to the next level.
- Men, learn how to make your lead much more enjoyable for the ladies and
enable you to lead more interesting moves.
- Ladies, learn how to follow effortlessly and add the style that will make
you look even better.
- The techniques are all illustrated with great moves for you to practise
and add to your repertoire.

Expand your repertoire in new directions with a wide variety of stylish moves
and techniques. Learn to stand out on the dance floor!
- Lots of flashy moves and variations for you to add to your repertoire,
with style points to make you look great!

- complex moves that challenge both partners
- some dips/drops/seducers/lambadas
- a couple of lifts to use in freestyle (with care!)
- some challenging spins for both partners
- a couple of nice moves with some footwork
- moves that make the ladies smile!
- There is detailed work on technique, basic principles, spinning and
making drops safe and stylish.

Make your freestyle eye-catching by adding stylish drops and amazing lifts that
are safe to perform on the social dance-floor!
- Learn interesting drops which look superb and enhance your dancing.
- The lifts are all designed to look great, but still be safe to perform on
a social dance floor.
- The workshop covers the leading and following techniques which make moves
like these possible to use in freestyle.

World-renowned Master Teachers of Argentine Tango, Guillermia Quiroga and Roberto Reis have not visited Los Angeles as a couple since the 1990’s, when they performed with Forever Tango, The Hollywood Bowl and at the Universal Amphitheatre. They were also principal dancers with the Orchestra of Mariano Mores.
Famous worldwide for her technique and imagination, Guillermina is a revolutionary teacher. She won the first Tango contest of the city of Buenos Aires just a year after
she started dancing 17 years ago! She has since performed in Tango x 2, been principal dancer for Mariano Mores’ orchestra, dancer with the US and Europe tours of
Broadway's Forever Tango, exclusive principle dancers with Julio Iglesias’ Tango world tour, and performed in Tango Magic and Tango Argentino in Lincoln Center and
Carnegie Hall.
Over his extensive career, Roberto has participated in some of the most prestigious tango shows in more than 45 countries. He began his professional dancing career in 1981
and started tango in 1988 with Juan Carlos Copes. |
