2003-2004 Policy and Politics
I wrote and delivered a speech for the oratory contest at the July 4th party thrown by the Democratic Club of the Pasadena Foothills. You can read the text of the speech here.
As a scientist interested in politics and policy, I am particularly interested in the intersection of these two fields. I wrote my "vision" for the 2003 2020 Democrats conference on the topic -- click here to read it. My ideas on this topic have progressed quite a bit since then, but perhaps it's still worth a look.
In the spring of 2003, in the wake of the US invasion of Iraq, I wrote a short piece for a friend's short-lived "response" journal. You can read it here.
In the spring of 2003, I took a trip to Washington, D.C. to lobby my Congressman and Senators on civil liberties and the war in Iraq. The program was run by the Friends Committee on National Legislation. You can read notes about what we did, look at the materials we prepared, and see pictures, if you click here.
